About Me
I’m a software developer from Ames, Iowa. My primary experience is programming in Java, but I have knowledge of C, C++, and Python. Additionally I have experience with SQL and managing my own program’s databases. My passions outside of programming include amateur photography, college football, biking, and gaming. These passions have influenced what I programs I decide to make—which include a personal stats app for the Halo games, a football pool app, and a bike maintenance tracker.
Work Experience
McFarland Clinic: Ambulatory Technical Analyst
May 2016 - May 2021
At a basic level I was responsible for helping maintain the electronic health record (EHR) system which hundreds of doctors and tens of thousands of patients use. On a more detailed level, I was the team expert on device integration with the system. This includes allowing providers and patients to access health records from their phones safely and securely. Additionally I was responsible for integration with devices that input data into the EHR such as optometry machines or scanning paper charts to digital records. Projects where I was the Ambulatory lead or co-lead include electronic prescribing of controlled substances, rapid deployment of mobile to mobile telehealth during the COVID-19 pandemic, and style changes on provider facing reports.
